Nomadic Making

Travel and food inspired artefacts. Inspired by the culmination of exploration and allowing myself to get physically and mentally lost in the design process despite current travel limitations.

This project has been more about the journey than the destination. When I started it I had a clear plan about what I would make, how it would help me after university and even how I wanted my new designers exhibition to look. However, the recent events meant that I moved back home with limited access to workshops. Luckily, I had stockpiled clay and was able to experiment at home with unfired ceramics and made a variety of little pots and accessories.

Turning my focus to how pots could be destroyed led me to the idea for Amphora, vessels encased in a vessel designed to be smashed, looking at the historical use of clay and its value as a disposable today.
